Meet the Coaches

Head Coach - Girls
Tia Walters
I started my swimming career in the 4th grade and never looked back. I began swimming competitively for OMNI Swim Club, before transferring to STAR Swim Club. I also swan for my middle school team at MMSA. At Hill-Murray High School, I swam 7th-12th grade becoming an assistant captain my senior year. I knew I wanted to take my swimming career as far as I could, so I swam 4 years at St. Francis College, a Division 1 school in the NEC Conference.
Following a successful and rewarding career, I decided to begin my coaching journey. That chapter of my life started with the Rochester Swim Club, coaching young swimmers for roughly 2 years. When I moved back to the Twin Cities in 2019, I became an assistant coach for the Woodbury High School Girls team.
In 2021, I became the head coach for the White Bear Lake Area High School Girls Swim & Dive team. I'm very proud to be a part of this organization and I'm excited to see where the future takes us.

Head Coach - Boys
Jake Mueller
My interest in swimming started when I hung around the Blaine swim team coached by my dad in the 1980s. I started swimming competitively in 7th grade at Coon Rapids Junior High. I swam for four years at Coon Rapids High School and graduated in 1997. I attended Winona State University and received a degree in Geoscience - Water Resources Management.

While at WSU, I volunteered for two seasons at Winona High School. After I graduated, I was the Assistant Coach for the Andover Boys swim team, the Assistant Coach for the Fridley Boys swim team, the Assistant Coach for the Columbia Heights boys swim team, and the Assistant Coach for the Anoka Boys swim team.

I have been the Head Coach for the White Bear Lake Boys Swim and Dive Team since 2010. I was the head coach for the White Bear Lake Girls Swim and Dive Team from 2013-2019. After a year away, I was hired to be the Assistant Coach.

I live in Saint Paul with my wife Rachel and daughter Ella and I work as an aboveground and underground storage tank inspector for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

Dive Coach - Girls
Cassi Sielaff
Diving has always been close to my heart. My sister actually started the diving program at our high school just so she could coach me. I competed in both swimming and diving from 7th through 12th grade, serving as team captain for four of those years. I was a state-level diver and a fill-in breaststroker when the team needed me!
Over the years, I had a new coach almost every season—or sometimes none at all—which gave me a wide range of perspectives on the sport. I absorbed everything I could, both the good and the not-so-good, and it shaped how I coach today.
I’ve spent four years coaching at three different schools in the Duluth area, and now I’m really looking forward to bringing that experience to White Bear this season. I’ve always admired the unique mix of mental toughness and physical control that diving demands, but at the end of the day, it’s not just about the sport. It’s about the growth, confidence, and memories each athlete takes with them.

Assistant Coach - Girls
Ellie Youngquist
I have been a swimmer ever since I was a kid. Growing up my family spent every summer up north on a lake and I was always in the water. I began club swimming for many years before joining my high school team in 7th grade. I swam for the Owatonna Swim and Dive team all through high school, and was a captain both junior and senior year. My favorite events to swim were long-distance, and the 500 became my main event from 8th-12th grade.
For the past seven years I have been a swim instructor, working with infants all the way up to adult swim classes. I started working at my community Parks and Rec Center, and have worked with other organizations including RedCross, Lifetime Fitness, and FOSS. My first assistant coaching position was for the Forest Lake Girls Swim and Dive team in 2022.
I am currently in my fifth year of college at the University of Northwestern St. Paul, pursuing a degree in Health and Physical Education, with two minors in Coaching and Biblical Studies. Swimming has always been a passion of mine, and I love watching the hard work of my swimmers pay off. I look forward to working with the team!

Assistant Coach - Girls
Emma Koller
I started swimming in Elementary school with the CAA. I then started swimming for Hill-Murray High School for 7th through 12th grade and was captain my senior year. My go-to events became the 500 Free and the 100 Fly. I swam with OMNI and STAR in the off-season. My freshman year of college at the University of St. Thomas I swam for the team and took on more distance events, swimming the thousand and the mile.
The 2025 season will be my first season coaching. I'm excited to share this amazing sport that taught me so many valuable lessons with the girls this season. I can't wait to see what we all can accomplish together!
